Founder & CEO of Seeds of Sisterhood, Inc. Shares Her Why...

Updated: Apr 15

"Becoming a Mom at a very young age and working within high schools throughout Milwaukee, WI. as a Program Coordinator, I began to think of my younger self, and just naturally wanted to help shift the mindset of Milwaukee teens & underserved youth. It's difficult when you can only do so much." That is what encouraged Founder & CEO Teresa Guyton to start a youth mentoring organization in Milwaukee, WI in 2020.

Teresa Guyton, Milwaukee, WI.

"Being a teen mom and struggling to keep up academically throughout high school with a baby was challenging. A teacher in my school believed in me. She took me under her wing (and to church), never stopped praying for me, mentored me, and welcomed me and my daughter as family. I'll never forget that... and I'm forever grateful. She has had a lifelong impact in my journey to motivate other young ladies like me, because that's all I've ever seen her do... give & serve. Until this very day, she is still a confidant and supporter." - Teresa Guyton, CEO & Founder of Seeds of Sisterhood, Inc.

I Want to Learn From All Involved in the S.O.S. Mission...

I want to learn from the girls/women of S.O.S.

I have so many encouraging stories, and not so pretty experiences I know someone’s daughter, niece, sister, or friend could benefit from. My life was filled with misguided mistakes. When I went back and spoke with the younger me, took her by the hand, and promised to protect her, things began to change for me as a woman. God began to assign individuals to me and I didn't understand why at first. Shortly after, I truly believe my purpose was revealed. All I know is that I've failed countless amounts of times, but I’ve been resilient more than I've failed. My story is still being written as we speak and I hope it's impactful and a great read when I'm no longer here.

I can be the lesson, a willing teacher, or a lifelong student… Either way, it makes me a better person to myself and for others around me.
